Will Decides to Contact Federales in Mexico City to Decide How to Close the Case on Who Killed Oscar's Family. (Book Four, Chapter Fourteen)

After Oscar went to bed that evening, Wilmar poured wine as they all discussed what to do next.

Oscar had told them that although he didn’t remember how it had happened, he did remember that his father had killed his family, and now that he could talk, he wanted to tell everyone who the killer was. “He needed to be punished for what he did,” he had said.

It was agreed not to talk about the hypnosis, it would only cause suspicion, but the fact that Oscar could talk after seventeen years of being silent, they knew they would have to believe him. Oscar was a witness, after all.

“I can write to the federales in Mexico City,” Will suggested. “Explain what has happened to Oscar and that he now remembers who killed his family. The mayor will vouch for the fact that Oscar has been mute all these years. Actually, anyone in town can do that.”

Wilmar spoke next. “Senor Austin. We are much in your debt for bringing our son’s voice back to us, but you are a gringo and not known in these parts. It is best if I contact the city officials. Oscar is my son.”

“You are right, Wilmar,” Elizabeth said. “But you have done a wonderful thing, Will. Justice will be served and Oscar’s life has opened up for him.”

Dr. Wilson raised his glass. “To Will, the best lawman in the West.”

The rest of them raised their glasses as well and said in unison, “To Will!”
